HEAR GOD

We contend that God does speak to His people. However, people must be prepared to hear what He is saying. It is crucial that Christians clearly understand what God is communicating to them and know how to respond appropriately. The question, then, is not whether God speaks to His people but how He does so. HGV, p17

“The Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, the fire...after the fire there was a still, small voice.” 1 Kings 19:11-12

“They love the Lord’s teachings and they think about those teachings day and night.” Psalm 1:2 NCV

Two spiritual disciplines we practice to HEAR GOD are meditation and prayer.

The ability to hear God and obey His Word. This helps us grow into a “familiar friendship with Jesus.”

Meditation is really very simple and there is no need for complicated techniques to teach us how. Christian meditation is an attempt to fill the mind with God. CoD, p21

Think about God before, during, and after anything you do.

Prayer CoD, p33

Simply talk to God. “Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 NCV

“...ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.” Philippians 4:6 NCV

We pray not just so God will change our situation, but most importantly so God will change us.

Intercede for others.

Confess.

Request.

Praise.
