HEAR GOD
We contend that God does speak to His people. However, people must be prepared to hear what He is saying. It is crucial that Christians clearly understand what God is communicating to them and know how to respond appropriately. The question, then, is not whether God speaks to His people but how He does so. HGV, p17 “The Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, the fire...after the fire there was a still, small voice.” 1 Kings 19:11-12 “They love the Lord’s teachings and they think about those teachings day and night.” Psalm 1:2 NCV
Two spiritual disciplines we practice to HEAR GOD are meditation and prayer.
Helpful How To’s: · Unplug. Get away from cell phone, internet, TV, MP3 player, etc · Pray daily. Put a sticky note on your bathroom mirror to remind you · Seek solitude and silence. Go outside… into the “wilderness” · Find messages from God and His “still small voice” all around you · Alarm Prayer; The Daily Office; the Centering Prayer; the Jesus Prayer; Stations of the Cross; Prayer Labyrinth; XN Pilgrimage
