LAUNCH

FUEL Student Ministries exists for students to LAUNCH into serving the church and the world...

"...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant." Matthew 20:26

"You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Galatians 5:13

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10

LAUNCH is a rally cry for young Christians to move out of their comfort zones and serve others. LAUNCH indicates that each student has a life's calling from God. We are to live out God's calling through the lifestyle of a servant. FUEL Student Ministries engineers service in two distinct areas:

     1) serving the church indicates "ministry" - learning and practicing how to ad"minister" our calling and spiritual gifts

     2) serving the world indicates "missions" - reaching out our hand to those abandoned in world

LAUNCH into serving "the church" refers to the community of believers. We enable students to experience various forms of service within the church in order to help them discern their calling. Some students enjoy cooking for mission trip fundraisers, visiting the homebound members of our congregation, or helping lead small groups, while others serve on our FUEL Design Team, share their testimony, or perform a variety of musical talents.

LAUNCH into serving the world includes our efforts to reach non-Christians, the poor, the abandoned, the disadvantaged, and the environment. We encourage students to reach their non-Christian friends through a life of integrity that opens the door for them to share the Gospel through word and deed.  We support a child in Africa through Compassion International, African malaria response through NothingButNets.net, world hunger and AIDS awareness through the ONE Campaign, once a month local RCS meal service, regional (ASP) and international (Costa Rica) renovation projects, adopt-a-road environment project, an annual CROP Walk event, and more. We want to open your eyes to all the opportunities to go into the world with God's love.

While the church and the world are distinct from one another, we can never overlook or disregard either one. We learn and practice service first within the church which is our extended family. Then we expand into the world to serve and welcome others into that family of faith, just as we were once served and welcomed.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:42-47

The best way to FOCUS on God and EXPLORE life as a disciple is when we LAUNCH into serving the church and the world.
