30 HOUR FAMINE RETREAT

06-07 FEBRUARY 2010

30 hours. No food. Know hunger.
 
Do the 30 Hour Famine.
 
We'll participate in this once-a-year, world-wide event.
Over ONE MILLION students from 21 countries participate each year!
 
Cost is $5 for the weekend. Open to grades 6-12.

Focus: A "hungry" person who experiences the uneasy or painful sensation caused by involuntary lack of food which over time may result in malnutrition. Hunger affects more than 1 billion people world-wide.  22 countries suffer from high levels of chronic hunger; defined as more than 30% population undernourishment. Countries such as Eritrea, Niger, Comoros, Haiti and Liberia are particularly affected. For more facts click here.
 
Purpose of Event: To raise students’ awareness of hunger across the world and how following Jesus Christ calls us to respond because of that awareness.
 
Concept: Students will voluntarily experience hunger for 30 hours.

We understand that the nature of this event may have you worried about the safety of your middle school our high school student while fasting. We will provide the safest, yet most experiential event possible to equip our students to understand and engage a world full of poor and starving people.
